Results need context
Exercise, fever, urine infection, dehydration and menstruation can affect urine results. Clinicians interpret the trend rather than labelling one number in isolation.
Protecting kidney and heart health
The plan may include individualized glucose and blood-pressure targets, medicine review, avoiding unnecessary painkillers, smoking cessation and selected protective medicines.

Does protein in urine mean kidney failure?
No. It is a risk marker that needs confirmation and management; it does not by itself mean kidney failure.
Should I stop metformin before every test?
No. Temporary holds apply only in specific situations. Follow instructions from the clinician arranging the test or procedure.
