What diabetes really means

Diabetes is not one single condition. Type 1, type 2, gestational diabetes and other forms differ, but all require glucose to be understood in context rather than through blame.

What to remember

  • Diagnosis uses validated blood tests—not symptoms or a glucometer alone.
  • Type 1 diabetes requires insulin; type 2 treatment is individualised.
  • Prediabetes is an opportunity for prevention and follow-up, not a moral verdict.
